Peggy Bahr is a native of Otis, Kansas located 20 miles west of Great Bend. She is the younger of two children, daughter of Jim and Joan Collins. Peggy graduated from Otis-Bison High School in 1987. She spent her teen years as a lifeguard and swimming instructor at the Otis Pool. Peggy attended McPherson College where she graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education in 1991. Following graduation, she taught third and fourth grade at Washington Elementary School in McPherson for nine years.

Peggy married Steve Bahr in 1990, and they have three children; Alex, Anna, and Katherine. After staying home for two years to care for her young family, Peggy returned to teaching part time at St. Joseph Catholic School. She taught P.E. for three years and then moved back to the regular classroom where she taught fourth, fifth and sixth grade math for three years. During this time, Peggy pursued a degree through Newman University, and in spring of 2008, received her Master of Science in Education with an emphasis in Building Leadership.

Peggy keeps busy attending her children’s many activities. In her leisure time, she enjoys reading, growing flowers, playing the piano and challenging friends and family to board games.
